Medical Case Management/Legal Nurse Consulting
Obtaining pertinent medical information from beneficiary, facility, primary treating physician, and/or consulting physician(s) as necessary; and assessment, interpretation and analysis of medical records to identify outcomes and devise, implement and evaluate alternative plan of treatment that supports improved medical and return-to-work outcomes. Services also include assessment of claim needs to facilitate clear communication among medical professionals, insurance carriers, brokers, attorneys, employers and injured workers; and development of claim resolution strategies.
Chronological summary and analysis of medical records for medical issues related to current treatment, apportionment, and future medical care; conducting client interviews; communication with all parties including legal counsel to facilitate resolution of claims; identifying standards of care; helping to determine the merits of a case based on identification of strengths and weaknesses; conducting research and summarizing medical literature; educating attorneys and claim administrators regarding medical facts and issues relevant to claims or cases.
Disability Management/Return-to-Work
Assessment, development, implementation & related training of Workers Compensation, Disability Management, Occupational Health, Employee Health, in Healthcare, Absence Management, Return-to-Work, Safety, Loss Prevention, Ergonomic, and Injury Illness and Prevention Programs and implementation for compliance with State and Federal standards (NIOSH, OSHA, CDC, JCAHO, Title 22, WC-SB899, ADA, FEHA)
Individualized Medical Case Consulting involving assessment, facilitation & coordination of the Return-to-Work Process with all parties, to support transitional work, the interactive process, and reasonable accommodation issues.
Carve-Outs/Alternative Dispute Resolution—Ombudsperson, Ombudsman
Consulting services include ADR Program development and implementation, as well as ongoing program administration, to include contract and policy and procedure development, Ombudsman selection and training. Ombudsman services are defined as a neutral third party jointly selected by labor and management, under Labor Codes §3201.5 and §3201.7, Alternative Dispute Resolution in Workers’ Compensation.
